Pansy Wreath Information

The pansy wreath that was used on the cover of the April issue of Midwest Living Magazine was our 18" Wreath. It also comes in other sizes and options. Here are the specifications on all of our wreaths.

We also have wreaths with 3 feet on the bottom so they can be used flat as table decorations. This same wreath has the option of coming with 4 evenly spaced candle holders. Also, when hanging this wreath, it helps to keep the damp wreath from resting
on the door or wall.

Taking Care Of Your Wreath

When watering your wreath it is best to remove it from the wall or door and lay it in a tub of water (a garbage can fid works very well!). Let it soak for about 5-10 minutes. You may have to soak your wreath 2-3 times per week, depending on the location. If it is in full sun, it may need to be watered daily. Add liquid fertilizer two time per month.

Pansies are plants that prefer the cool temperatures of the Spring and late Fall. It may become necessary to replace the pansies with more heat tolerant plants suitable for your climate, especially during the summer months. Consult a local reputable garden center for suitable plants that would grow best in your area. Annuals and herbs work well on these living wreaths.

When replanting your wreath follow these steps.

  1. Pull out old plants.
  2. Soak wreath so it is soft and moss is pliable.
  3. Add long fiber sphagnum. moss to bare or thin areas.
  4. Make "planting holes" in areas where you wish to plant.
  5. Insert plant roots from plugs, cell packs, or small pots into the holes.
  6. Back fill holes with wet moss.
  7. Use wire pins to hold plants in place and/or train the runners or stems.
  8. Water thoroughly and continue to maintain similarly to pansy wreath.
  9. Enjoy your new wreath!

These same steps can be followed year after year.
