*It is recommended for gardeners to wear rubber gloves when handling sphagnum moss or
any other soil/plant components. These live materials can sometimes contain a
sportrichosis fungus or other organisms which could enter through an open wound or cut
during handling and cause treatable, but nonetheless undesirable skin infections.
